George Clooney and Amal Clooney did not get into a fight on their fifth wedding anniversary. It’s just another lazy claim from a tabloid. Gossip Cop found it to be totally untrue.

George and Amal got dinner with longtime friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber to celebrate their fifth anniversary lat last month. By all accounts, the dinner seemed to be a nice celebration for the couple. However, their low-key night simply wasn’t enough for the tabloids.

A headline in the latest issue of New Idea screams, “Amal Clooney dumped on her fifth wedding anniversary.” Citing the couple’s discomfort with paparazzi coverage outside their home, the tabloid alleges that the two were hiding some sort of news about their relationship as “tensions flare.” The outlet even claims Amal “appeared to be crying” as the two got into their car, suggesting they had been arguing prior to being photographed.

In reality, however, this was just another case of a tabloid trying to drum up drama despite evidence saying otherwise. The tabloid’s headline is a total work of fiction, as Amal clearly was not dumped. The Clooneys remain married, and their anniversary included no divorce papers. It didn’t include any battles either.

The tabloid seems to have totally mistaken the couple’s discomfort with photographers at their door as a sign of something more. In other photos of Amal from that night, she appears joyful and content as she celebrated her anniversary. New Idea simply found the most awkward looking shot of the lawyer, then published it alone to make it appear like she was crying. The picture was taken completely out of context and doesn’t represent the actual events of the couple’s anniversary celebration. This kind of duplicity is pretty much par for the course for the outlet.

According to the tabloid, other “evidence” of trouble in the couple’s marriage are a 2018 Life & Style article about George feeling “trapped in a bad marriage” and a 2019 RadarOnline story about Amal fleeing their home after a supposedly “explosive argument.” Unfortunately for the tabloid, Gossip Cop already debunked both of those stories. This latest claim has absolutely no legs to stand on.

New Idea is no stranger to fake rumors about the Clooneys. We busted the magazine in March 2018 for a phony story about George getting Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston back together. In June 2018, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for claiming the Clooneys threw a “custody party” for Pitt and Aniston. The outlet clearly has no idea about what’s truly going on in the famous couple’s lives.
