George Clooney's wife Amal is not threatening to divorce him because she thinks he's too "childish," despite a ridiculous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus premise. There's simply no truth to it.

Earlier this month, the actor was asked in an "Extra" interview if he was chosen as the godfather of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's newborn baby. He confirmed he wasn't and joked, "You don't want me to be a godparent of anybody. I'm barely a parent at this point. It's frightening." According to OK!, the barb didn't sit well with George's wife.

"Lately, George keeps talking about how bad he is at parenting [twins Ella and Alexander], and Amal finds it incredibly childish," a supposed source tells the outlet, adding that it's resulted in a lot of fights between the couple. "She's told him to stop and he won't. It's no secret that they've been going through a rough patch. Now this whole mess has made things even worse."

The alleged insider goes on to say that Amal recently threatened to walk out on her husband and take their two kids with her if he didn't grow up. "George begged her not to leave," says the suspicious tipster. "He promised to do everything he could to change his ways."

The seemingly phony source goes on to say that the couple has been having additional problems because they're "two very different people," with George being "a prankster and a true Hollywood bachelor at heart," and his wife being "a straight-laced lawyer." The so-called "insider" further maintains that Amal wants her husband to get more serious "in order for this marriage to last," and now he's determined to prove he's capable of doing so.

"He's given Amal his word that he'll work on his issues, even through therapy if necessary," adds the alleged tipster. "He know this is his last chance, and as far as he's concerned, divorce isn't an option. He plans to do everything in his power to make sure nothing jeopardizes [his marriage], including his sometimes childish behavior."

There's simply no truth to the tabloid's narrative. In fact, Amal praised George's parenting skills during her speech his AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony last year. In addition to calling him "an amazing husband and father," the human rights lawyer added, "What I have found with you is the great love that I always hoped existed. And seeing you with our children, Ella and Alexander, is the greatest joy in my life." It's also worth noting, George is very dedicated to a number of humanitarian issues and has assisted his wife in various philanthropic efforts. The idea that he's just a childish Hollywood prankster is nonsense.

Still, Gossip Cop reached out to a source close to the couple, who confirms they're not having marriage problems and Amal never threatened to leave her husband. We busted OK! in March for making up a similar story about George and Amal being headed for a split over his supposed "partying." Meanwhile, the unreliable tabloid wrongly reported back in December that the Clooneys were expecting twins again. It's clear the magazine has zero insight into their marriage.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
