Gabrielle Union did not bleach her skin, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can correct this speculative claim, which wrongly suggests the star has lightened her skin tone. We're told it's "false."
In an article posted on Tuesday, MediaTakeOut squeals in a headline, "They're Saying... ALLEGEDLY... That Actress Gabrielle Union May Have 'LIGHTENED' Her Skin Color!!" In the accompanying story, the website provides pictures of the star attending the 11th annual God's Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards in New York, and falsely accuses the star of bleaching her skin. The online outlet goes on to purport, "Actress Gabrielle Union attended a charity gala last night, and she looked well... DIFFERENT."
Without a single source to back up its baseless assertion, the often disproven site further contends, "Some folks online are speculating that Gabby could be the latest celeb to undergo INTRAVENOUS SKIN BLEACHING. The newest trend in Hollywood is for women to get intravenous glutathione, a skin lightening treatment that is given at medical 'skin' clinics."
The entire report, however, is complete nonsense. In her new book, "We're Going To Need More Wine," Union talks about her desire to look less black as a child, but shares how she later came to learn that her success is not in spite of being black, but because of it. And given how proud she is to be black and successful, she would never bleach or lighten her skin. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source who tells us the story is 100 percent "false."
Gossip Cop has actually busted the aptly nicknamed MediaFakeOut on several occasions for publishing inaccuracies about the actress. We previously corrected the website for falsely alleging Union had plastic surgery when, in reality, she was simply posing in photos with a "duck face" and wearing contoured make-up. Not surprisingly, MTO once again made its untrue determination without fact-checking or taking into account the lighting at the charity event in New York and the effect of photographers' flashes on the photos of the actress.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
