Were the members of Fifth Harmony being difficult backstage during their appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live"? That's the allegation in one of this week's new tabloids, which claims the girl group was "falling apart" behind the scenes. Gossip Cop looked into the story and we've learned it's entirely inaccurate.
According to Star, Fifth Harmony members Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane, Ally Brooke and Normani Kordei are struggling to keep themselves together. A so-called "source" tells the magazine that during their appearance on the ABC talk show last month, "They were stressed out and snappy. Their behavior wasn't that of a united group."
The outlet's questionable source goes on to say the situation turned worse when the girls later performed at Jay Z's Tidal x Brooklyn charity concert. "[It was] amateur hour," says the alleged insider. "One was running seriously late, another was flipping out over her costume. It felt like a group of teenagers getting ready, not grown women."
However, there's one major problem with the tabloid's poorly researched story. Fifth Harmony was never backstage at "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Instead, the group's Tidal x Brooklyn performance was simulcast on the late night show. The unreliable outlet mistakenly believes the girls performed on two separate occasions, but their concert set simply aired on the ABC show. That's a major blunder that transparently exposes how the tabloid's tale is entirely made-up.
Regardless, Gossip Cop is exclusively assured by a source involved with the group (but not authorized to speak to the press) that the magazine's report is "completely baseless and misinformed." We're further told, "They arrived at Tidal together early and did glam on site. No one was running late and their costumes were set and finalized for weeks."
It should be noted, this isn't the first time the talk show has been used as the catalyst for a bogus report. Gossip Cop previously busted Star's sister outlet, RadarOnline, for making up a story about Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston reuniting on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." There was no truth to the claim and this latest one is equally unfounded.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
