The cast of the Fast & Furious franchise received the MTV Generation Award at Sunday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. Check out the video below!

MTV announced just over a week ago that it was bestowing one of its biggest awards upon the stars of the film series. Traditionally, the Generation Award has been given to one actor in recognition of his or her body of work. But for the first time ever, the network is honoring the “groundbreaking” and “global” pop culture contributions of an entire cast in celebration of “one of the most popular and enduring motion-picture franchises of all time” that “continues to entertain millions of fans across the world.”

Stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese were all present for the tribute, with Diesel giving an acceptance speech on behalf of the group. Following a presentation from former co-star Gal Gadot, the actor said, “In 2002, I was standing on this stage and MTV had given Paul Walker and I an award for Best Duo. Now 15 years later, I’m with my whole family, and you’re giving us the Generation Award.”

“Most importantly, I gotta thank our generation. I gotta thank a generation that was willing to accept this multi-cultural franchise,” Diesel said, adding, “When you’re family, you’re family. And I could never stand on this stage and talk about Fast & Furious without giving love to my brother Pablo, our brother Pablo. I hope you’re proud.”

In addition to the Generation Award, the Fast & Furious franchise was furthered honored with a performance of “Hey Ma” by J Balvin, Pitbull and Camila Cabello. The song is featured in The Fate Of The Furious, and this marked the first time the music artists performed it on television. As the Generation Award recipients, the cast now joins the ranks of Will Smith (2016), Robert Downey Jr. (2015), and Mark Wahlberg (2014).

The Generation Award was also the only special award handed out at the first-ever MTV Movie & TV Awards, as the network did not name winners for either the MTV Trailblazer Award or the Comedic Genius Award this year. Watch the videos below!
