One of the tabloids claims Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are having marriage problems because she fears he may relapse on alcohol. Gossip Cop can bust the bogus story. There's plenty of evidence to prove the couple's relationship is going strong.
According to the Globe, McGraw is trying to stay sober so he can save his 22-year-marriage. The country star gave up alcohol more than 10 years ago, but the outlet alleges that he's in a bad place and his wife is becoming frustrated. "They're at a crossroads in their marriage once again," an alleged insider tells the magazine.
The outlet's questionable source adds, "Faith threatened to send Tim packing if he didn't get rid of alcohol and drugs in his life. Tim didn't want to lose his family, so he got sober, but there can always be a trigger that sends him spiraling back down again." The supposed tipster goes on to say, "Faith's a control freak and Tim's out of control partying has created friction... The lines of communication between them get frayed, and it leads to fights."
However, the couple's social media accounts completely discredit the magazine's premise. In honor of their 22nd wedding anniversary earlier this month, Hill wrote on Instagram, "To the love of my life, the one who still takes my breath away after 22 years of marriage. My soul man, my soul mate, my everything. My one and only. Another 22 years is a good place to start. Happy Anniversary my love." McGraw also posted a tribute to his wife on Instagram, writing, "Happy anniversary. My love. My soul mate. My life. Whatcha say....up for 22 more!!??"
Meanwhile, People magazine wrote an article about McGraw's journey to sobriety when he hit the 10-year mark earlier this year, explaining how he managed to overcome his struggles with booze. The country star also opened up about how his wife helped him to recover. "Faith saved my life in a lot of ways," he told the publication. "I can go down a dark road sometimes, when you're not feeling good about yourself, and she pulls me out. My wife makes me a better man."
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time we've had to debunk a phony story about the happy spouses having marriage problems. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop busted the Globe's sister outlet, Star, for falsely claiming that Hill was "dumping" McGraw because she couldn't get over his "party-boy past." This latest article on the subject is more nonsense.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
