The 2017 Grand Final of the Eurovision competition is taking place on Saturday. Check out the live stream below!

Eurovision was started in 1956, in the wake of World War II. As leaders looked for an entertaining way to unite Europe through the arts, the song contest was born. Initially, seven countries participated, and though it was a talent show, it was originally only broadcast on radio. But over the years, it has grown to a full-on television spectacle.

That’s not the only thing that’s changed. The event now includes more than 40 countries, including Australia, despite not being part of the European continent. Each nation has one artist compete with an original song through multiple rounds, with the country of the winning performer getting to host the following year’s contest. In this case, Jamala of the Ukraine won last year, so this year’s competition is taking place there. More specifically, it is being held at the International Exhibition Centre in Kiev.

The show, the 62nd edition and boasting a “Celebrate Diversity” theme, is being hosted by Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk and Timur Miroshnychenko, all of whom are well-known television presenters in the Ukraine. Of course, there is a language barrier to consider. As such, each country typically has its own commentators for local broadcasts. 2016 marked the first time Eurovision was shown in the U.S., with Carson Kressley and Michelle Collins doing commentary through Logo. This time around, the network has recruited Ross Matthews and Michelle Visage.

Following the semi-finals earlier this month, 26 acts will compete in today’s Grand Final. The winner is chosen through both a jury and public vote. Countries award points to their competitors, with the voting usually based less on merit than political alliances. The whole thing, from start to finish, typically takes hours, and spectators in the audience and at home are glued to every minute.

And watching may very well be worth it, as a future star could be born. Past competitors include Celine Dion and ABBA, the latter actually winning back in 1974. Logo’s live stream kicks off at 3 p.m. Eastern and is expected to run through at least 7 p.m. Watch the feed below!
