Emma Stone won the Best Actress Oscar at the 2017 Academy Awards on Sunday. Watch her acceptance speech below!

Stone’s first-ever Academy Award win is for her starring role in La La Land, which scored a record 14 nominations for this year’s ceremony. Notably, the actress played Mia, an aspiring actress, and drew on her real-life experience for the part. She beat out Isabelle Huppert, Ruth Negga, Natalie Portman and Meryl Streep for the Oscar victory.

Taking the stage to a standing ovation, Stone said, “Thank you so much to the Academy. To the women in this category… you are all so extraordinary, and I look up to you and I admire you more than I can put into words. It is an honor just to stand beside you. That is the greatest honor of all.”

Stone went on to thank her family, the film’s director Damien Chazelle, and her co-star, Ryan Gosling. She then said of her award, “I still have a lot of growing and working to do, and this guy is a great symbol to continue on that journey.” The star also amusingly quipped that she’ll thank everyone in person once feeling returns to her feet.

Last year, before awards season began, much critical attention was focused on Portman and her portrayal of a grieving Jackie Kennedy in Jackie. But although she was named Best Actress at December’s Critics’ Choice Awards, Portman lost to Huppert at January’s Golden Globes, while Stone took home Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. That same month, Stone won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role at the SAG Awards.

After that, it seemed pretty clear an Oscar was in her future. Stone was previously nominated for an Academy Award in 2015, in the category of Best Supporting Actress for Birdman. Check out full video of her Best Actress acceptance speech below!
