Emma Stone Prom Video Response

High school junior Jacob Staudenmeier went viral after recreating the opening scene of La La Land to ask Emma Stone to his prom. On Friday’s “Good Morning America,” the teen read the actress’s response to his “promposal.” Watch the video below!

With the help of his classmates, Staudenmeier produced his own version of the musical’s opening number, “Another Day of Sun,” which is performed in the film during the middle of a Los Angeles traffic jam. The teen’s video instead features him dancing and singing around a lineup of cars in his high school parking lot while singing his own lyrics asking Stone to the dance.

The Arizona-based teen appeared via satellite on Friday’s “GMA” to talk about why he created the video. “The initial inspiration was a kid that went to my school about two or three years ago, he actually ‘promposed’ to Miley Cyrus and that just gave me a big inspiration,” Staudenmeier noted. “I thought I had to follow it up, and after seeing Emma Stone in La La Land, absolutely killing it in her performance… and especially knowing that she’s from Arizona, I thought it would just be a perfect idea.”

“Being an aspiring filmmaker, I knew I had to be big and ambitious with it,” Staudenmeier further explained on the morning talk show. At one point in the viral video, the high schooler even jokes that he resembles Stone’s La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling.

When asked on “GMA” if he heard back from Stone, Staudenmeier revealed, “I have and I have the letter right here.” He then read Stone’s response, which stated, “Thanks for making the greatest proposal I’ve ever received. I can’t tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled throughout that beautifully orchestrated video. I’m in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom and I’m grateful you thought of me. Thank you and P.S., I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma.”

But Despite Stone not being able to attend as his prom date, Staudenmeier insisted he’ll still be going to the event. Watch the “GMA” segment below, as well as the teen’s viral video!
