Emma Stone is NOT breaking up Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, contrary to a sensational and erroneous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this claim.
The story in question can be found in the pages of In Touch, where a headline announces, "Emma Comes Between Eva & Ryan." The beginning of the article declares, "Eva Mendes has a message for Emma Stone: Stay away from Ryan Gosling!" Stone and Gosling, of course, have now co-starred together in three films, and it's alleged Mendes has "long been wary of their on-screen chemistry."
"Eva's jealous of his close friendship with Emma," a so-called "insider" claims to the magazine. The supposed source goes on to allege the time Stone and Gosling spent together during awards season "sent Eva and Ryan's relationship into a tailspin... Eva and Ryan have gotten into screaming matches over Emma."
In fact, the publication asserts, "Things got so bad, Ryan told her not to join him at the Oscars, and brought his sister, Mandi, instead." The alleged tipster even contends that Gosling is "at his wit's end with Eva." Yikes.
That certainly sounds like a Stone-fueled breakup is on the horizon... but In Touch isn't exactly telling the truth. Yes, Gosling and Stone have a great working relationship. And yes, Gosling brought his sister to the Academy Awards. But everything else here is false.
Gosling did NOT tell Mendes "not to join him at the Oscars." They were never planning to attend together as a couple in the first place. They haven't walked a red carpet together since 2012, and that time was only because they were promoting a movie they starred in together. They've made it a point to otherwise not bring their relationship on the red carpet and to award shows. There was no intention of changing that at the Oscars.
The tabloid simply created a scandalous reason for Mendes' absence, and wrongly dragged Stone into it. But Mendes herself even says in her Shape cover story released this week, "What people don't know about me is that I love being home. Instead of hitting the red carpet, I'd rather be with our girls."
Mendes shouldn't be faulted for staying home with their children, and Stone certainly should be blamed for it. Mendes and Gosling are NOT splitting, and his co-star has nothing to do with their relationship. This is nothing but a tabloid-created faux love triangle.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
