Like most parents, Eminem is proud of his daughter. But an "exclusive" report detailing the rapper's feelings is illegitimate, a rep confirms to Gossip Cop. We can also explain what sparked this fake news story.
Last week, Eminem earned worldwide attention after delivering a take-down of Donald Trump for the BET Hip-Hop Awards. The music star's rap went viral and he instantly became a hot topic. So, HollywoodLife did what it usually does. It took that hot topic and manufactured a related story about whether Eminem will run for president. This purported "exclusive" was made up, with a rep even telling Gossip Cop, "That source is not a real one." On top of that, Eminem's daughter has also been a subject of online conversation lately with gossip outlets speculating about her dating life. And today, Tuesday, is Eminem's birthday.
In short, there's a lot of interest in him right now and there's reason to search his and his daughter's names online. As such, HollywoodLies wants to capitalize on any potential traffic. That's why on Monday night, it published a story headlined, "Eminem Is 'Proud' Of Daughter Hailie After Drama With Ex-Wife Kim — She's 'The Very Best.'" In the accompanying article, the webloid claimed it "EXCLUSIVELY learned" that "Eminem is super proud his daughter Hailie Scott Mathers has achieved so much despite the issues he's had with her mom."
A so-called "source close to the rapper" was quoted as saying, "Eminem is really proud of Hailie, she's the very best of him and Kim." Going on in suspiciously vague language, this supposed snitch asserted, "Hailie is smart, popular, motivated, kind, and really down to earth." Then the alleged tipster said what fans already know: "Eminem was determined that his daughter would be raised out of the spotlight, as the last thing he wanted was a 'showbiz kid,'" and all went well, "considering the problems that both her mom and dad have had." And then the "source" contended Hailie is "really committed to her studies," which the site reinforced by pointing out she graduated high school at the top of her class, as was well-documented back in 2014.
In other words, this "source close the rapper" has merely given frequently-used adjectives and made statements that line up with common knowledge about Eminem and his daughter. There is nothing to suggest this is a real story, particularly given the previous fabrication and the timing of the piece, as detailed above. Sure enough, Eminem's spokesperson confirms to Gossip Cop that this "exclusive" is inauthentic, just like the previous one. The rap icon is "always" proud of his daughter, we're assured, but no one really close to him spoke about this with HollywoodLies.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
