Does Eminem cover the windows of his home in aluminum foil because he believes the government is spying on him? That’s the insane claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.

According to the National Enquirer, the rapper fears the National Security Agency is eavesdropping on his conversations and tracking his movements, so he’s using tin foil to thwart them. It’s widely believed among many conspiracy theorists that the metal blocks electromagnetic fields.

An alleged insider tells the magazine, “His paranoia really took hold after his rapper pal Proof was shot. He started reading up on all sorts of conspiracy theories. That’s where his obsession with tin foil comes from.” The supposed source goes on to say that in addition to his house, Eminem sticks the foil “on the windows of hotel suites when he’s on tour” because he’s “convinced it stops listening devices from penetrating rooms.”

The seemingly nonexistent tipster adds, “He hates putting any of his correspondence in emails and is convinced any of his electronic devices can be hacked in seconds.” The magazine’s premise is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but a spokesperson qualified to speak on Eminem’s behalf tells Gossip Cop it’s “absolutely untrue.” While the tabloid hides behind an unidentified “insider,” the rapper’s own rep is going on the record to dismiss the ridiculous story.

It should be noted, Eminem is known for being very outspoken politically. NME recently published a rundown of some of the rapper most shocking political moments, which have included rallying against George W. Bush, the National Rifle Association and even the U.S. Constitution. Additionally, Eminem doesn’t hold back his disdain for President Donald Trump, even saying he doesn’t want any Trump supporters as fans. However, the rapper has never accused the government of spying on him or any other Americans. Eminem obviously isn’t afraid to express his political concerns, and yet he’s never spoken out against the NSA.

It’s also worth mentioning, the Enquirer doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to accurately reporting about Eminem. Several years ago, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that the rapper would be playing The Riddler in a sequel to The Dark Knight. As time has shown, Eminem never appeared in the Batman franchise, nor was The Riddler even featured in The Dark Knight follow-up. This latest article is more nonsense.
