Ellen DeGeneres‘ marriage and career are frequently the subjects of bogus tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has had to correct countless false reports about the talk show host. Here are five wrong rumors about DeGeneres.
On Wednesday, the National Enquirer published a bogus cover story claiming DeGeneres had dumped wife Portia de Rossi. It was alleged the spouses had “a fight to end all fights” that ended with the talk show host ripping off her wedding ring and moving out of their house. Tellingly, the unreliable magazine didn’t provide any real details about what the couple had supposedly been arguing about. Regardless, the bogus article was poorly timed. DeGeneres and de Rossi just took a trip to Africa together, and both documented their fun vacation on social media.
In April, Woman’s Day wrongly reported that DeGeneres had invited Jennifer Aniston on her show to do a tell-all interview about Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. It was said the host had convinced the actress to reveal secrets from both of her marriages on the talk show. A rep for Aniston, however, assured us the report was untrue. As time has shown, the actress never sat down for a tell-all interview on DeGeneres’ show.
Gossip Cop called out RadarOnline in September for falsely claiming DeGeneres was worried about Charlize Theron being a bad influence on her wife while shooting Season 5 of “Arrested Development.” The unreliable website even said the TV personality was planning to drop by the set to keep an eye on the two. Gossip Cop debunked the story when it first emerged, and now that the fifth season of “Arrested Development” has been released, it’s been proven unequivocally false. Theron, who guest-starred on several episodes of Season 3, doesn’t appear on the latest season of the comedy series.
In May 2017, RadarOnline falsely claimed DeGeneres and de Rossi were adopting a baby to save their marriage. It was said the spouses were having problems and hoped a baby would bring them closer together. Gossip Cop debunked the article as soon as it was published. More than a year later, DeGeneres and de Rossi haven’t adopted a child, and their marriage is still going strong. It’s also worth noting, DeGeneres has stated in interviews she doesn’t want kids.
And finally, Gossip Cop busted RadarOnline in April 2017 for making up a fake feud between DeGeneres and Drew Barrymore. The blog alleged the two were fighting over creative control of their reality show “First Dates,” which they co-produce. The two women, however, were never at odds. In fact, Barrymore attended DeGeneres’ 60th birthday party in February. That same month, Barrymore appeared on DeGeneres’ talk show. Time has disproven every single one of the wrong rumors detailed above.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
