Are Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi "at odds" over Drew Barrymore? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop has the truth about whether Barrymore's relationship with the talk show host has "threatened" DeGeneres and de Rossi's marriage.
After stating that DeGeneres and Barrymore have been friends for many years, the National Enquirer notes how the two are now working together on a new TV series called "First Dates," which the talk show host is producing and the actress is narrating. The magazine then alleges that ever since working together on this series, Barrymore and DeGeneres have grown "closer than ever," and it's push de Rossi to a "$350 million split" from her wife of eight years. A so-called "source" tells the tabloid, "Portia is threatened by Ellen's relationship with Drew." The publication's alleged insider further claims the two women have an "emotional bond" that's disturbing to de Rossi.
To bolster its entirely unfounded premise, the outlet publication then tries to make an argument for why DeGeneres and Barrymore are actually more compatible than the talk show host is with her own wife. Its questionable source maintains that Barrymore and DeGeneres have "the same goofy sense of humor," while de Rossi is much "more serious." The tabloid casually adds the completely untrue and unsubstantiated rumor that DeGeneres and de Rossi's marriage is in trouble. Of course, it's been the Enquirer that has been churning that false narrative for years.
And to lend credence to its false assertions, the magazine simply regurgitates one fake news story after another that it has published, all of which Gossip Cop has debunked. The outlet ends its article with its same supposed "source" saying that Barrymore and DeGeneres have a "strong connection," and it's become apparent that de Rossi is now the "odd woman out."
The only thing that's apparent is that the tabloid has terrible de Rossi and DeGeneres sources. More than a year ago, the unreliable magazine declared on its cover that DeGeneres and de Rossi were divorcing. And before that fabrication, the publication made a slew of verifiably false claims, including that DeGeneres agreed to have a baby and move to Australia to save her marriage. Sadly, it seems nothing can save the supermarket tabloid from publishing lies about the happy couple.
Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in the with same impeccable DeGeneres source who has accurately helped us bust dozens of other fake news stories about the talk show host. We're told the latest article about de Rossi's marriage to DeGeneres being "threatened" by Barrymore is entirely "ridiculous." Once again, the only thing "at odds" is the Enquirer and the truth.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
