Is Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's marriage ending? A new tabloid report claims the couple may be on the "brink of divorce." But Gossip Cop can bust the story.
"Is This The End Of Ellen & Portia?" Woman's Day asks in a headline. According to the accompanying article, DeGeneres has "ditched her wedding ring," and both she and de Rossi "looked noticeably stressed" last week. The gossip magazine contends the couple is going through a "rocky time." A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "Ellen and Portia have been through some low periods in their marriage, but they seem to be really struggling right now."
Claiming the talk show host and the actress frequently live apart, the outlet's supposed snitch alleges, "Whenever they go through rough patches they retreat to different homes... But instead of fixing their problems, they're hiding from them." It's asserted that DeGeneres "tends to isolate herself" and often "doesn't want to talk to anyone, even Portia" after work, while de Rossi is "extremely sensitive" and has become "increasingly lonely in Ellen's presence."
Actually, the stars regularly spend time together. Just last month, de Rossi shared a video on Instagram of DeGeneres at a gallery, in which the comedienne amusingly promoted her wife's art business. And only a week ago, DeGeneres and de Rossi were photographed during a date night. "Entertainment Tonight" even reported they "looked more in love than ever, holding hands and being affectionate with one another."
This narrative that they may be splitting up was actually started last week by the National Enquirer, which similarly highlighted how DeGeneres was pictured without her wedding ring during a recent outing. But as Gossip Cop noted then, she's gone out several times over the years without her band. Whether or not the TV personality wears the ring while running errands is not indicative of her happiness with de Rossi or the state of their marriage. In fact, an impeccable DeGeneres confidante, with whom we spoke on the condition of anonymity, recently told Gossip Cop they've "never been happier," contrary to all of these claims.
It's also worth noting that DeGeneres herself has warned fans about believing what the tabloids write about her. Just last month, as Gwen Stefani discussed marriage rumors on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the host sarcastically cracked, "I know that the tabloids are 100 percent accurate with everything they say." But she also admitted quite seriously, "I love being married." Too bad the tabloids just don't love telling the truth.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
