Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are not having a baby through IVF, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the story. We’ve learned it’s fabricated.

According to OK!, the spouses of 10 years are about to become first-time parents. A supposed source tells the outlet, “After talking about babies for the longest time, they finally went the IVF route with the help of a male donor, and are happily telling friends, ‘We’re going to be moms!’”

The alleged tipster goes on to say the talk show host and her wife are keeping the donor’s identity a secret, but many people in their circle believe “he may be a famous comedian.” The so-called “insider” adds, “Portia wants to go through the whole pregnancy process, so they’re using her eggs, which they previously had frozen. Ellen’s totally fine with it. She likes to joke that if the baby is going to look like one of them, she wants it to be Portia!”

From there, the seemingly phony source says the couple is already discussing baby names. “Ellen loves ‘Jennifer’ if it’s a girl, named for their best friend Jennifer Aniston,” says the questionable insider, “and ‘Orly’ if it’s a boy, for Orlando Bloom because he’s sweet and gorgeous.” The tipster concludes, “They can’t wait to be parents!”

Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a mutual pal of ours and DeGeneres, who tells us the magazine’s report is made-up. In fact, the spouses have already made it clear they’re not interested in having kids. Back in 2016, DeGeneres told the Daily Telegraph that she and de Rossi discussed having children early on in their marriage, “but we just decided we like our conversations not being interrupted and our furniture without sticky grape juice on it.” She further noted that having famous parents “can be really tough for children.”

In 2015, DeGeneres said in a “Today” show interview that while she likes the idea of having kids, “that’s not enough to have kids.” The talk show host added, “It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don’t know if I can.” Gossip Cop can confirm that DeGeneres’ thoughts on the matter haven’t changed.

The tabloids have long been interested in DeGeneres and de Rossi having a baby, even if they themselves haven’t. In January 2017, for instance, Gossip Cop busted OK!’s sister publication In Touch for wrongly maintaining DeGeneres and Rossi were “starting a family.” In that article, the magazine asserted they were “discussing Portia carrying the child… but Ellen would rather a surrogate since she feels it’s safer.” Of course, two years later they didn’t have a baby, nor are they going to for the reasons stated above.

And just two months ago, Gossip Cop debunked another story that falsely contended DeGeneres was quitting her talk show to have kids with de Rossi. Quite simply, DeGeneres and de Rossi are not having a baby via IVF, adoption, or a surrogate. Much like the previous claims, the current one is 100 percent untrue.
