A tabloid claims Ellen DeGeneres has become "addicted" to facial fillers in an effort to look younger for her wife, Portia de Rossi. The story is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to NW, the 61-year-old talk show host has been splurging on cosmetic surgery in an effort to keep up with her wife, who's 15 years her junior. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Ellen's always been subtle about this stuff in the past, but it seems she may have overdone things lately. Her face looks swollen and wax-like, so her attempts to look sexier appear to have backfired."
The alleged insider further contends that DeGeneres' friends believe she "botched" her face in attempt to "spice up her marriage." The questionable tipster adds, "She's always felt pressure to look more glamorous for Portia, especially now that they're in a better place marriage-wise. But she needs to ease up on the nips and tucks."
Gossip Cop checked in with a mutual pal of ours and DeGeneres, who laughed off the report. Our reliable source wasn't able to speak on the record, but we're assured the magazine's article is "ridiculous." The talk show host isn't addicted to fillers and she's not getting cosmetic surgery to keep her marriage going strong.
Last year, Gossip Cop busted the Globe for making up a similar story about DeGeneres undergoing $1 million in plastic surgery to prevent de Rossi from dumping her. This notion that the TV host needs to transform her looks in order to keep her wife interested is flat-out ludicrous. The premise wasn't true last year and it's no more accurate now. The couple's age difference has never been an issue.
It's worth noting, NW has a habit of publishing false reports about celebrities going under the knife. In March, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Jessica Simpson would be getting extensive plastic surgery following the birth of her third baby. Last year, we called out the magazine for making up an absurd story about Hailey Baldwin getting plastic surgery to look like Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez.
Gossip Cop also busted the publication for falsely claiming Nicole Kidman was "binging" on Botox and fillers. In addition to that, we debunked the tabloid's report alleging Caitlyn Jenner's face was "falling off" as a result of her plastic surgery habit. The unreliable outlet seems to choose a celebrity at random and come up with a narrative related to cosmetic work. DeGeneres is simply the latest target, but there's no truth to the report.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
