Are Ellen DeGeneres and Drew Barrymore feuding over creative control of their new reality series “First Dates”? That’s the claim in one of this week’s new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has the exclusive truth!
The talk show host is the executive producer of the new NBC reality show, which documents real-life first dates between strangers. Barrymore serves as the narrator, but an article in the latest issue of Life & Style claims the actress is “butting heads” with DeGeneres behind-the-scenes. A supposed “source” tells the magazine the daytime host “expected to be the one calling the shots, but Drew keeps adding her two cents.”
The outlet’s questionable insider further purports that the women are fighting over “just about every detail” of the show, including “which couples should be included” and “who should be paired up with whom.” “Drew and Ellen are a case of oil and waters,” adds the tabloid’s dubious source. “They just do not mix well.”
Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a trustworthy source close to DeGeneres, who laughed off the magazine’s feud story before exclusively assuring us there’s no truth to it. In fact, this isn’t the first time Life & Style has wrongly pitted the talk show host against another female celebrity. We previously busted the publication for falsely claiming DeGeneres ended her friendship with Melissa Etheridge. Gossip Cop also debunked the tabloid’s tale about DeGeneres being a a mean boss. This latest report is equally bogus.
