A new tabloid report alleging Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are headed for a $400 million divorce is entirely untrue. Gossip Cop looked into the alleged marital drama and we can exclusively set the record straight.

The talk show host recently purchased an estimated $20 million beach-front mansion in Santa Barbara, away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. According to Star, however, DeGeneres actually bought the secluded property to get away from her wife. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “Ellen bought the house right after she had a huge blowout fight with Portia. It seems Portia told Ellen she was sick of taking a backseat to her career, and accused Ellen of paying more attention to her show than to their marriage.”

The outlet’s questionable insider further contends that the spouses of nine years have been living separate lives for a while, adding, “Ellen has been isolating herself. As soon as she finishes work, the turns off her phone, retreats into her own little world and doesn’t want to talk to anyone, including Portia. Sadly, they seem caught in a downward spiral. They’re both being stubborn, and that’s only driving them further apart.” The seemingly nonexistent insider also alleges DeGeneres is just about “ready to file divorce papers.”

Of course, the tabloids have been insisting for years that the couple will break up, which obviously hasn’t happened. Naturally, Gossip Cop was quick to question this latest article on the tired subject. We checked in with a close mutual friend of ours and the couple, who dismissed this recycled narrative as both “ridiculous” and “boring” on background. In fact, de Rossi recently posted an Instagram photo of her and DeGeneres relaxing at home with their dogs.

Star is the same unreliable tabloid that Gossip Cop previously called out for publishing a bogus cover story alleging de Rossi dumped DeGeneres for a man. This also isn’t the first time the tabloid has wrongly reported the spouses were trying to avoid each other. Gossip Cop previously busted the magazine for claiming de Rossi goes horseback riding just to get away from DeGeneres. This latest article is more fiction from the repeatedly discredited outlet.
