Is Ellen DeGeneres "begging" Kelly Ripa for forgiveness after having Michael Strahan on her talk show? That's the claim from one of this week's tabloids, which wrongly contends that DeGeneres feels bad for betraying the "Live" co-host. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
The "Good Morning America" anchor appeared on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" in October, but according to Star, his interview was purposely "cooked up by the duo as a way to stick it to Kelly." Bizarrely, the publication goes on to claim that a "remorseful" DeGeneres is now asking Ripa for forgiveness and wants to "bury the hatchet" with her supposed "rival" after taking a "nasty swipe" at her on air. A so-called "source" is then quoted as saying, "What Ellen did to Kelly was just plain mean. She should be ashamed of herself."
The magazine's dubious insider further purports that Ripa was "livid" with DeGeneres. "Cozying up with Michael was like telling the world she had taken his side and was taunting Kelly. It took [DeGeneres] a little while, but after the show aired, she realized how hurtful it must have been," concludes the questionable "source."
But a source close to the talk show host laughed off the story, calling the report a "joke." Gossip Cop's insider even mocked the tabloid for taking a break from publishing untrue stories about DeGeneres' alleged marital problems with Portia de Rossi. Remember, we corrected the magazine earlier this month when it falsely alleged DeGeneres and Rossi were headed for a $400 million divorce. We also called out the publication for wrongly claiming Rossi had dumped DeGeneres for a man.
But that's not the only inaccurate report Star has published about the talk show host. In 2016, Gossip Cop debunked the tabloid when it falsely reported in an alarming cover story that DeGeneres was in a "health crisis." Much like those bogus and ridiculous tales, this latest one is equally untrue. DeGeneres does not "feel bad" about having Strahan on her talk show, nor is she begging Ripa for "forgiveness" after her so-called betrayal. The article is 100 percent manufactured.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
