Ed Sheeran returned to the “Today” show on Thursday to perform a summer concert for 12,000 fans. Check out the videos below!

When “Today” show staffers arrived for work at the morning show’s Rockefeller Plaza studio, they discovered thousands of fans camped out on New York City streets. With many staying outside overnight, the line for concert access stretched for blocks. As the event got underway, the New York City Police Department estimated the crowd was 12,000 people strong, making it one of the biggest in “Today” history.

Sheeran treated his many fans to “Shape Of You,” “Castle On The Hill,” “Supermarket Flowers,” and, as chosen by his supporters themselves, “Galway Girl.” All the songs are from the Divide album, which came out in March. Sheeran is currently in the mist of his “Divide Tour,” which he announced on “Today” that month. As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Sheeran also did an outdoor concert back then, too.

Amidst his performances now, Sheeran went inside the studio to chat with Matt Lauer, and he set the record straight about reports claiming he “quit” Twitter. “They make such a big deal of this,” the performer said as he clarified. “I got asked in an interview if I read negative things, and I was like, ‘Well, I don’t even go on Twitter anymore.’ It’s not like I quit it. I still post on Instagram and it goes to Twitter.”

He continued, “I’m just not gonna wake up and read something and be like, ‘Oh, well that’s ruined my day.'” Sheeran stressed, “There’s so much positivity out there. I’m just saying as a human being, we always read the one negative one and ignore the others. And I don’t want to do that. It’s just foolish to do when there’s so much love out there in the world to look at the negative stuff. I’m just choosing not to read it.”

And there was plenty of love at Sheeran’s summer concert, and there will be throughout North America as he tours. His next stop is Toronto on Friday, followed by Buffalo and Philadelphia. For a taste, watch the new “Today” videos below!
