Ed Sheeran Saturday Night Live

Ed Sheeran sang “Castle On The Hill” on this week’s “SNL.” The song is off his upcoming album Divide. Earlier, Sheeran sang “Shape Of You” on “SNL.” See the video below of Sheeran’s performance of “Castle On The Hill” on “Saturday Night Live.”

As Gossip Cop previously noted, this marks the second time Sheeran has been the musical guest on the sketch comedy show. The singer-songwriter first appeared on “SNL” in 2014, performing “Sing” and “Don’t,” which were off his album X. This is the first time, however, Sheeran has sung “Castle On The Hill” on live TV.

The lyric video for “Castle On The Hill” was released just a little more than a month ago, and has been watched more than 111 million times. The music video for “Castle On The Hill,” which came out two weeks ago, has 50 million views to date. In the video for the song about Sheeran’s childhood in Framlingham, England and his desire to return home, we see a young redheaded boy growing up in the country with his buddies. Much of his teenage years is spent hanging out with his pals and some girls, drinking beer, smoking cigarettes, and trying to enjoy themselves in the town, which has a large medieval castle on its big hill. Interestingly, the young boy who plays Sheeran in the video attended the same high school in Framlingham that the singer-songwriter had gone to.

“Castle On The Hill” hit number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and 20 on the U.S. Adult Alternative Songs chart. Check out the video below of Ed Sheeran’s performance of “Castle On The Hill” on “SNL.”
