Drew Barrymore is not on a "downward spiral," despite a false tabloid report claiming the actress is headed for a breakdown. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We're told it's simply false.
According to OK!, the actress has been seriously struggling following her 2016 divorce from Will Kopelman, and her friends are getting increasingly worried. Last month, the actress told a funny story on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" about using a dating app, prompting an alleged "source" to tell the magazine, "It was told for laughs, but it was sad. Nothing seems to be going right for her at the moment."
The outlet's supposed insider adds, "Drew feels like no one's on her side. Her friends are really concerned. They want her to slow down and take some time for herself." But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actress, who exclusively assures us on the condition of anonymity that the tabloid's story is false. Although Barrymore admitted she was in a "dark place" directly following her split nearly two years ago, the actress has since said she's happy and healthy.
During an interview on the "Today" show last month, Barrymore revealed that working on her Netflix show "Santa Clarita Diet" has been therapeutic. The actress explained that she was initially hesitant to take the role due to her fragile state, but the series ended up giving her "a new focus and empowerment." Barrymore further noted that the series removed her "stuck way of thinking and feeling" and helped get her to "a healthier place."
Barrymore went on to say that being a mom has also made her "such a calmer, better person." The actress frequently posts Instagram photos of herself spending time with her two daughters. As for her relationship with Kopelman, Barrymore recently praised her ex-husband "for always being the best dad and supporting and enabling me to do what I need and want to do." Earlier this week, Barrymore expressed gratitude on Instagram by writing, "Happy [about] so many important things today, to everyone [love] and many blessings."
It's also worth noting, the actress has appeared very bubbly and positive over the past few weeks while making the rounds promoting "Santa Clarita Diet." Despite OK!'s baseless attempt to keep Barrymore in her rut, she's clearly pulled herself out of it.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
