Is Drew Barrymore really "begging" Ellen DeGeneres to find her a girlfriend? Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight. We're told it's "ridiculous."
According to the Australian tabloid NW, Barrymore has "notched up three failed marriages to blokes" and thinks she might have "more luck with the ladies," recruiting DeGeneres to help her find love in a new relationship with a woman. In the piece, which is seemingly filled with fake quotes, a so-called "source" is quoted as telling the gossip magazine, "Ellen immediately offered to help her find the right woman. She's very supportive of Drew and thinks it's wonderful that she's exploring her options for love."
The publication's dubious "insider" further asserts that Barrymore has already given DeGeneres a "wish list of some of Hollywood's finest" women and stars. "Drew just wanted to give her an idea of her type. She'd be thrilled if she got dates with any one of the women," adds the outlet's questionable tipster. But Gossip Cop investigated the story about Barrymore allegedly "begging" DeGeneres to find her a girlfriend, and an impeccable source close to the talk show host tells us the report is "ridiculous."
While DeGeneres and Barrymore played a celebrity dating game last year on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," during which she hilariously rejected everyone from Jake Gyllenhaal to Brad Pitt, the talk show host isn't really trying to set a single Barrymore up with someone. In fact, the "Santa Clarita Diet" star amusingly admitted to not even knowing how to use a dating app. Barrymore told DeGeneres, "My friend's on a dating app. It's like circus of the stars. It's crazy... My other girlfriend said she's going on a three-month no-swiping thing. I didn't even know what that meant."
It's also worth noting, although Barrymore came out as bisexual in 2003, she's certainly not "begging" the talk show host to find her a girlfriend after splitting from her husband of nearly four years. The actress said in an interview with Contact magazine, "I have always considered myself bisexual... I think a woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful."
Regardless of her attraction towards the same sex, she doesn't want DeGeneres to "land her a girlfriend." And, in fact, when DeGeneres played the dating game with Barrymore, the host suggested only men, like Harry Styles. A Barrymore insider also laughed off the claim to Gossip Cop.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
