Are Drake and Millie Bobby Brown working on a rap album together? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.
According to Star, the rapper and "Stranger Things" star are collaborating on "a top secret hip-hop project." An alleged insider tells the magazine that Brown plans to release her music "when the third season of 'Stranger Things' is out next year." The questionable source further contends that the 14-year-old actress has also reached out to Justin Bieber, Adele, Cardi B, Tyga and Eminem in hopes of them appearing on tracks.
"Her songs are adorable," adds the suspicious tipster. "She has rhymes on boys, teen feuds and even the Kardashians! Millie definitely doesn't want to be pigeonholed as a kid actress — she's ready to burn the stereotype down."
The magazine's premise is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Drake's rep, who's qualified to speak on his behalf. The rapper's spokesperson tells us on the record that he and Brown aren't working on music together. The outlet's "insider" is either nonexistent or woefully misinformed.
It's possible the tabloid concocted this story based on recent reports about Drake and Brown having a friendship. During a red carpet interview at last month's Emmy Awards, the actress told "Access Hollywood," "I love him. I met him in Australia and he's honestly so fantastic." Brown went on to call the rapper a "great friend and a great role model," and further revealed that they frequently text each other.
The other likely reason for the magazine coming up with the story is that Brown is a big fan of hip-hop and has been known to show off her impressive rap skills. The actress has rapped more than once on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." Most recently, Brown joined Adam Levine on stage at a Maroon 5 concert and performed Cardi B's verses in their song "Girls Like You."
It seems that Star came up with its phony premise by combining Brown's friendship with Drake and her penchant for rapping. The TV star and musician simply don't have an album in the works. Gossip Cop previously busted the tabloid for making up a story about Brown feuding with "Stranger Things" co-star Finn Wolfhard over salary disparities. There was no truth to that report and the magazine's latest one is equally inaccurate.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
