President Donald Trump responded in a new interview to the massive mistake made at Sunday night’s Oscars, during which the wrong film was initially awarded Best Picture. The commander-in-chief argued Hollywood was “focused so hard on politics” that it neglected the awards show.

As Gossip Cop reported, La La Land was incorrectly announced as the Best Picture winner over Moonlight after presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were handed an envelope for the wrong category. It’s still unclear exactly how the gaffe occurred, but now Trump has his own theory. “I think they were focused so hard on politics that they didn’t get the act together at the end,” the president told Breitbart News.

“It was a little sad,” added Trump. “It took away from the glamour of the Oscars. It didn’t feel like a very glamorous evening. I’ve been to the Oscars. There was something very special missing, and then to end that way was sad.” As Gossip Cop reported, there were in fact several political speeches given at the Academy Awards. During his opening monologue, host Jimmy Kimmel even quipped, “I want to say thank you to President Trump. Remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars were racist?”
