Are Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama really getting married in the wake of her drug overdose? That's the premise of a story from the tabloids. But Gossip Cop has learned the singer is exclusively focused on her health, not walking down the aisle.
In Touch exclaims in a headline, "Demi & Wilmer Getting Married!" According to the article, Lovato "isn't letting rehab stand in the way of her future" with her former boyfriend. A so-called "insider" is quoted as saying, "Her overdose brought her and Wilmer back together... They found their way back to each other, so something good has come out of this nightmare."
"Wilmer feels the same way — he wants to get married, too," contends the magazine's untraceable source. So, when will they tie the knot? Will the ceremony be low-key since Lovato is recovering from her medical crisis? How will this affect her time in rehab? Tellingly, the outlet doesn't have the answers to any of these questions. Instead of providing any significant details to back up its marriage premise, the publication just shares something many readers already know: Valderrama visited Lovato in the hospital.
But that doesn't mean they've already rekindled a romance. In fact, no reputable places have reported that they're back together, let alone planning to wed. What's more, though, is now that Lovato is in extensive and intensive treatment, Valderrama is not by her side, or even in direct communication with the singer. E! Online reported this week that he is "unable to speak" to Lovato during her counseling, and has instead been "in touch" with her family about her "status. It was specifically noted, "The family is trying to make sure they eliminate all distractions and want her to be focusing on her health right now."
Us Weekly also reported that though Valderrama is "checking in" on Lovato, "they are broken up and not together right now." Where exactly does a wedding and a marriage fit in then? Nowhere. And while, given their off-and-on nature in the past and this life-changing event, it's possible the exes will find themselves a couple again some time in the future, there are no plans to get married at this time.
It should be noted that the tabloid's sister magazine, OK!, peddled its own false story earlier this year about Lovato and Valderrama planning a wedding. They weren't back together then, either, as Gossip Cop rightly reported at the time. And now that her health is in jeopardy, Lovato's love life simply isn't a priority at all.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
