An attempted burglary at Demi Lovato’s Los Angeles home was thwarted late Monday. And it seems the singer has her dog and house manager to thank.

Lovato wasn’t at her cliff-side Hollywood Hills residence when the incident allegedly took place. According to a report, a man dressed in all black clothing and wearing a baseball gap managed to climb over the property’s security gate and used a ladder to climb up and onto one of the house’s balconies before midnight on Tuesday. It’s unclear if the ladder was found on site, or brought to the scene by the alleged perpetrator.

The noise apparently awoke a dog inside the house, possibly Lovato’s pet canine Batman, who started barking. That in turn awoke the singer’s house manager, who went to investigate the source of the pooch’s distress. TMZ reports the employee discovered the would-be burglar peering in the window of Lovato’s bedroom and promptly called 911. The purported trespasser, however, fled the scene by the time police arrived.

Lovato was likely across the country at the time of the ordeal. On Tuesday night, the singer kicked off her “House Party Tour” in Boston, in support of her new single, “Sorry Not Sorry.” Joined by Rob Gronkowski, she performed for roughly 200 fans in the living room of a private home. The tour is part of partnership with iHeart Radio, and will entail Lovato traveling to seven different cities to host these house parties.

“Sorry Not Sorry,” which Lovato co-wrote, was released at midnight Tuesday as the lead single from her upcoming sixth album. Hours before the track officially dropped, the former child star posted a lengthy statement on Twitter thanking fans for their support. Last week, as Gossip Cop reported at the time, Lovato was in Hamburg for the Global Citizen Festival.

She only purchased this particular L.A. home last fall. Gossip Cop has reached out to Lovato’s rep for comment. As we’ve previously noted, other celebrity burglary victims this year include David Spade, Nicki Minaj and Cesar Milan.
