Demi Lovato turns 24 on Saturday. To celebrate the singer’s birthday, Gossip Cop is looking back at five wrong rumors we exclusively “blew out” about Lovato over the last year.

Last September, just weeks after Lovato turned 23, Life & Style claimed she and Selena Gomez were hitting “rock bottom together.” The tabloid ridiculously claimed that the stars’ friendship had “grown dangerous,” and that they were in need of rehab. The allegations were utterly untrue, and Lovato marked her fourth year of sobriety this past March.

In October, the National Enquirer alleged Lovato and then-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama were engaged. It was said the actor “proposed over a candlelight dinner.” Tellingly, though, the story also absurdly claimed Valderrama hadn’t given Lovato a ring. That’s because there was no engagement. Valderrama’s rep told Gossip Cop the report was “not true,” and he and Lovato ended up splitting this past June.

Also in October, Celeb Dirty Laundry said Selena Gomez was going to take Adam Lambert on tour with her to “take down” Lovato and her touring partner Nick Jonas. The webloid alleged Gomez wanted to “make sure that her and Adam’s tour blows Demi and Nick’s tour out of the water.” Gossip Cop was told the claims were “entirely fabricated.” And while Gomez did end up going on tour, she had Joe Jonas and DNCE as her opening act, not Lambert.

Moving ahead to May, both Life & Style and In Touch claimed Lovato and Jonas were feuding as they prepared to hit the road together. In fact, it was even alleged the Jonas Brother was “ready to end the friendship” because they were clashing so much. But this supposed “war” was “untrue,” and Lovato and Jonas have been having a blast traveling the country together this summer.

And, bizarrely, after claiming Jonas and Lovato were at odds, in June In Touch said he was the reason she and Valderrama broke up. The magazine alleged Valderrama “thought she was in love with Nick,” leading to blowup fights. Gossip Cop, however, learned that the two men “get along great,” and Jonas had nothing to do with end of Lovato’s relationship.

Gossip Cop has no doubt that the year ahead will be filled with more tabloid tales about Lovato’s professional and personal lives. But we’ll be here to correct the inaccurate reports. For now, we just wish Lovato a happy and rumor-free birthday!
