Demi Lovato is defending her image after getting backlash for the risqué bikini she wore for her “Cool In The Summer” pool party on Wednesday. See photos below.

As Gossip Cop reported, Lovato’s new song premiered this week, and she’s done a number of interviews about how this starts a new grow-up period for her. The pop star was definitely showing a more mature side at the launch event, hosted at the Gansevoort Park Avenue in New York City by Z100. In fact, many have compared the outfit she wore to bondage get-ups.

Lovato showed up in a black bikini top that was designed to look like her chest was bandaged in. She paired it with cut-off shorts and thigh-high boots. The singer posed for photos, performed “Cool In The Summer,” and got in the pool with fans, all while leaving rather little to the imagination (as bikinis often do).

Lovato later shared some pics on her Instagram, even giving the New York Post a “shoutout” for featuring one of the photos in Thursday’s paper. The headline read “D.Lo lays it bare,” and the caption praised Lovato for looking “hot.” But some fans weren’t pleased, leaving comments like, “This look is a bit cheap,” and “She looks naked. I expected more from her.”

But the former child star fired back on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, tweeting, “Showing more skin cause I’ve worked HARD for this body…. #SORRYNOTSORRY.” It’s the second day in a row Lovato took to Twitter to defend herself. As Gossip Cop reported, she previously hit back at claims “Cool For The Summer” ripped off Katy Perry and Jessie J tracks.

Lovato, who has spent years battling an eating disorder, frequently uses Instagram to show off her fitness routines. She said in interviews earlier this week that she wants people to see that she’s “sexy” and “badass.” Check out the pictures below, and tell us what you think.
