Debra Messing and David Schwimmer are not dating, despite a bogus tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. A rep for the actor confirms there’s no romance between the two.
“New Couple Alert: Ross & Grace Are Dating,” reads a headline in the latest issue of NW, in reference to Scwhimmer’s “Friends” character and Messing’s “Will & Grace” character. The actor is playing the actress’s love interest on the second season of the “Will & Grace” reboot, but according to the tabloid, “romance has also bloomed off-set” between the pair.
An alleged insider tells the magazine, “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that they’re very well matched to each other. Debra calls him ‘Delicious David’ – both to his face and when she’s talking about him to her friends.” The outlet’s supposed source adds, “She’s got this glow about her that no one’s seen for a long time. Everyone’s totally rooting for them.”
However, this phony story appears to have been created based on an Instagram photo shared by Messing. The actress recently took a selfie with Schwimmer on the set of their series, and added the caption, “This guy is delicious.” Messing was simply posting a behind-the-scenes picture from her show and happened to have used an endearing term to describe her friend.
The magazine’s report is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Gossip Cop checked in with a spokesperson qualified to speak on Schwimmer’s behalf. The actor’s rep tells us on the record that he’s not dating Messing and the claim otherwise is simply “false.” The pair will be romancing each other on the second season of the “Will & Grace” reboot, but apparently NW doesn’t know the difference between TV and real life.
Additionally, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has had to call out the tabloid for publishing a phony story about the actor and one of his TV co-stars. This past June, we busted the outlet for falsely claiming that Jennifer Aniston was trying to convince Schwimmer and her other “Friends” co-stars to come together for a reunion show. The actress’s own rep assured us there was no truth to the article.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop has also had to debunk other made-up tabloid stories surrounding the “Will & Grace” reboot. Last year, the National Enquirer wrongly reported there was drama going on behind the scenes of the revival because many of the cast members were feuding on set. This latest article surrounding Messing and Schwimmer’s nonexistent romance is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
