Is David Beckham really pitching a sitcom based on the life of his famous family? One of this week’s new tabloids claims the former soccer player wants to create a TV show about a superstar couple and their children, but Gossip Cop looked into the story and we’ve exclusively learned the truth.

According to the National Enquirer, Beckham has come up with the idea for a scripted comedy series that would be loosely based on his marriage to Victoria Beckham. The plot of this supposed show would revolve around a famous husband and wife who decide to turn their kids into celebrities as well. A so-called “source” tells the magazine that the retired soccer star got inspired to make a sitcom after visiting the set of “Modern Family” with his wife and kids in August.

The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to say “producers fell in love with the whole dynamic” after Beckham pitched them the show, and now they’re “working overtime to bend the project into shape for next season.” But the only true part of this story is that the Beckhams did in fact hang out on the set of “Modern Family” over the summer. All the other details, however, are entirely fabricated.

Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the family, who exclusively assures us the athlete hasn’t pitched a sitcom. We’re told the tabloid’s report is simply “not true.” Unfortunately, the Enquirer has published a number of tall tales about Beckham, so we’re not too surprised by this latest fabrication. Gossip Cop previously busted the publication for making up a fake story about Beckham snapping at a female fan who tried to follow him into a restaurant bathroom. Shortly before that nonsense, we shot down the magazine’s claim that Beckham and his wife were on the verge of a split. This latest article is more fiction from the unreliable outlet.
