Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz have not split, despite a report from last year claiming the couple’s marriage was in crisis. Gossip Cop debunked the fabricated story at the time, and it’s still not true 12 months later. In fact, the happy spouses are even expecting their first child.

However, on July 10, 2017, the National Enquirer wrongly reported that Craig and Weisz were living “separate lives” amid a supposed marriage crisis. It was further alleged that the actor had turned down an offer to return for another James Bond movie so he could instead repair his supposedly fractured union. The magazine also quoted a supposed “insider” as saying, “Rachel and Daniel haven’t been happy for a while, and nearly called it quits last year.”

When this story first emerged, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the couple, who assured us it was “100 percent made-up.” Time has proven that to be the case. This past April, Weisz revealed in a New York Times interview that she and Craig are expecting their first child together. “Daniel and I are so happy,” she said. As for the couple’s relationship, the actress added, “I’m very happy being married, very, very happy.” In a separate interview with the NYT, Weisz revealed, “I love being Mrs. Craig,” before noting that she proudly uses her husband’s last name on all of her legal documents.

The tabloid’s additional claim about Craig turning down an offer to return as 007 was also proven false. Just one month after the magazine said the actor rejected the role, Craig confirmed on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” that he had signed on for another film in the iconic franchise. Production on the 25th James Bond film will officially begin in December, marking the fifth time Craig plays the role of the super spy.

Unfortunately, the Enquirer has made up plenty of more bogus stories about the couple in the year since we debunked the “split” article. This past May, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for falsely claiming that Craig and Weisz were only having a baby to save their marriage. The inaccurate story even said the spouses were relocating to England to raise the child in the hopes that starting over in their native country would prevent a divorce. Not only did a rep for the 007 star shoot down the claim, but Craig and Weisz had purchased a Brooklyn brownstone prior to the poorly researched article being written. It’s clear the tabloid has very little insight into the happy couple’s marriage.
