Courtney Love says she was attacked and held hostage during a riot over Uber in Paris on Thursday, and suggested Kanye West might’ve been caught up in the chaos, too. See photos and video below.

Love, West, and other celebrities have been in France for the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, Paris Fashion Week, and other events. But access to the Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, as well as the major “peripherique” highway, were blocked on Thursday by taxi drivers who were protesting the rise of Uber in Paris. The cabbies claim Uber drivers are encroaching on their livelihood, and hundreds showed up to demonstrate.

Love was apparently on her way to the airport when protesters confronted her Uber ride. “Dude @kanyewest we may turn back to the airport and hide out with u.picketers just attacked our car #ParisUberStrike,” she tweeted. It’s not clear if West was out in the mess, too, and went back somewhere for safety, or never left his original location.

But Love, who shared a picture of her damaged car window, went on to write, “They’ve ambushed our car and are holding our driver hostage. they’re beating the cars with metal bats. this is France?? I’m safer in Baghdad.” And calling out the president of France, Love tweeted, “François Hollande where are the f*cking police??? is it legal for your people to attack visitors? Get your ass to the airport. Wtf???”

Love then noted she “paid some guys on motorcycles to sneak us out, got chased by a mob of taxi drivers who threw rocks, passed two police and they did nothing.” The singer also posted an Instagram video showing some of the people involved and a massive line of cars. “How on earth are these people allowed to do this? the first car was destroyed, all tires slashed and beat with bats, these guys trying to open the doors and the cops are doing nothing?? French Taliban? civil reform needed in France?? I want to go home,” she wrote in the caption.

Love, however, was much more joyful in a picture in which she’s posing with the two men who came to her rescue. “We got out after being held hostage for an hour thanks to these two guys. I’m scared out of my wits,” wrote the rocker. She added, “Mr. François Hollande president or libertine? I can’t believe this really just happened. love French people but your government blows #happytobealive #parisuberstrike wtf??” Check out Love’s video and photos from the riot below.
