Courteney Cox and David Arquette are not battling over their daughter Coco, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can correct this story that claims the 14-year-old is "sick and tired" of her "control freak" mom. It's simply untrue, and the teen has even credited her mom for helping her becoming less stressed.

According to OK!, Cox and Arquette are no longer "friendly exes." The magazine claims sources say they are "butting heads over the raising of their 14-year-old daughter." A supposed "insider" alleges, "Courteney is a control freak," and maintains the "teen is sick and tired of her mom trying to micromanage her life and is complaining to her more relaxed dad."

The tabloid's tipster further contends, "David has contacted Courteney and suggested that she ease up and give Coco a bit more freedom." That, asserts the magazine, isn't sitting well with the former "Friends" star. Its so-called "insider" adds, "She primarily raised Coco and won't let David unravel all of her parenting." But Arquette is standing his ground, alleges the "source," because he "fears that if Courteney is not careful, Coco will rebel, big time."

Not surprisingly, the outlet offers no examples whatsoever of how Cox is a "control freak" or the ways Coco's mom is "trying to micromanage her life." Nor does the publication mention what the teen is "complaining" to her dad about. That's because the entire article is made-up.

The teen is far from "sick and tired" of her mother. Just two weeks ago, Coco joined Cox on the red carpet and at a charity concert in London that featured a performance by Ed Sheeran. And it wasn't just in those pictures that it's clear they're close. Whenever they're photographed together, it's obvious Cox and Coco have a strong, loving bond.

Gossip Cop checked in with mutual friends of ours and Arquette and Cox, and we were told the tabloid's premise is "stupid" and "ridiculous." But don't take our impeccable sources' words. Even Cox and Coco have openly discussed how well they get along.

Just a few months ago, Cox talked about raising her teen, Coco. In a joint interview with People, the mother and daughter acknowledged they "bicker" occasionally, as all parents do with the 14-year-olds at times, but mostly they have fun and love each other. For her part, Cox said, "We love each other... We laugh a lot, for sure." And Coco revealed, "Of course we're gonna get in fights. But we're very close. Very close. I love you a lot."

Far from battling with Arquette, Cox stressed that as parents they make sure it's "harmonious in both [homes]." The magazine even noted the actress is "not super strict," except for nurturing her daughter's musical talent. Meanwhile, Coco praised her mom, "If a stressful situation is going on, she helps me contain my stress and make me feel better. She's taught me a lot about how to be a stronger person in general."

As Gossip Cop likes to remind its readers, time is often not the friend of tabloids. Over the years, OK! has been wrong about the actress on a number of occasions, but perhaps never as clearly as when it reported in 2014 that Cox was pregnant, thanks to IVF, with Johnny McDaid's baby. The magazine's sources were unreliable then and appear to be no more trustworthy now.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
