Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber are not headed for a "billion-dollar divorce," despite a completely untrue tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. The spouses of 20 years are still going strong.
An article in the latest issue of the National Enquirer, which was later posted by RadarOnline, says the former supermodel and the businessman are headed for a split. The primary evidence? Crawford was recently spotted without her wedding ring while casually running errands in Los Angeles.
An alleged insider tells the magazine that after 20 years of marriage, "they have grown apart" and "might be filing for divorce by the end of the year." The supposed source further contends that Crawford and Gerber have been "living separate lives" and are also at odds over their teenage kids, daughter Kaia, 17, and son Presley, 19, embarking on modeling careers.
"Cindy has been all for it, but Rande wanted them to have a normal childhood," adds the questionable tipster. "He worked hard so that they wouldn't have to deal with the pressures of pursuing modeling careers." The seemingly phony source goes on to say the couple tried to salvage their relationship with a family trip to Miami earlier this year, "but it didn't work." The "insider" concludes, "They just seem to have outgrown each other, and now that the kids are grown, they seem willing to finally say goodbye!"
There's simply no truth to the tabloid's tale of marital drama. For starters, a major part of the outlet's story is predicated on the idea that the spouses are battling over their children going into the world of modeling. Earlier this week, however, Crawford and Gerber attended the 2018 British Fashion Awards in London, where their daughter Kaia won Model of the Year. Far from fighting over their kids' careers, the proud couple supported their daughter as she received a prestigious honor for her work as a model.
In fact, Gerber shared an Instagram video of his two kids at the awards ceremony, and added the caption, "Congrats to my girl Kaia and thanks to Presley for always looking out for her." Additionally, the tabloid's report is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "source," but Gossip Cop reached out to Crawford's rep, who tell us on the record that it's "not true in any way shape or form."
Gossip Cop is not entirely surprised the Enquirer printed this phony narrative, since it appears to be the magazine's turn to float divorce claims after several of its sister publications previously tried this angle. Over the summer, both Closer and In Touch maintained Crawford and Gerber were on the verge of divorce following "constant drama in their marriage for years." And while those outlets also alleged the spouses have been "living separate lives," the reality is they often post photos of themselves together on social media.
Shortly before that nonsense, OK! falsely asserted Crawford and Gerber were getting divorced. In that piece, an unnamed "insider" also alleged the couple had "grown apart" and that they would "divorced by the end of the year." Meanwhile, Gossip Cop busted Star in August 2017 when it wrongly contended that Crawford and Gerber were getting a $1 billion divorce because of a disagreement over their kids' careers. As noted above, both parents have been completely supportive of Kaia and Presley's modeling. Regurgitating lies doesn't make them true no matter how many times these publications try.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
