Was Cindy Crawford really mistaken for Caitlyn Jenner at the British Fashion Awards? That's the ridiculous claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we've learned it simply never happened.
A headline in the latest issue of Star reads, "Cait Expectations: Cindy Cringing Over Comparison!" The accompanying article says Crawford was mistaken for the transgender reality star three times at last week's British Fashion Awards. The supermodel attended the event to support her 17-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber, who took home the Model of the Year award.
"People were pointing to her and whispering how nice it was that Kendall Jenner's dad was there," a supposed source tells the magazine. "And several women actually approached Cindy and said, 'So cool you came, Caitlyn!'" The alleged insider further contends that Crawford "didn't want to act offended," but she was secretly reeling from the comparison.
"Cindy even asked her husband, Rande [Gerber], if she looked like Cait, and he told her she was crazy," adds the questionable tipster. "Although he did quip that she shouldn't turn into Kris Jenner and start living through her daughter's success!"
The magazine's absurd story is based on claims from a so-called "spy" who attended the British Fashion Awards. Gossip Cop, however, ran the report by Crawford's spokesperson, who tells us on the record, "None of it is true." Despite what the magazine's anonymous and untraceable "insider" claims, a rep qualified to speak on the supermodel's behalf assures us the incident described in the tabloid never happened.
It's worth noting, dozens of entertainment outlets covered the British Fashion Awards, but Star is the only publication in the world claiming Crawford was mistaken for Jenner at the event. According to the magazine, the mixup happened three different times. No other reputable outlet noticed. It also begs the question, was the tabloid's "spy" following Crawford around all night?
This wouldn't be the first time we've caught Star making up stories about the model. Back in August 2017, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Crawford and her husband were getting a "$1 billion divorce." In reality, the happy spouses of 20 years are still going strong.
The magazine isn't much better when it comes to accurately reporting about Jenner. Last year, for example, the tabloid falsely claimed that the former Olympian had gotten back together with ex-wife Kris Jenner. As time has shown, the ex-spouses never rekindled their romance. This latest article is more fiction from the unreliable outlet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
