One of this week's tabloids claims HGTV stars Christina El Moussa and Joanna Gaines are at war with each other. The story is completely false. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Gaines' HGTV home renovation show "Fixer Upper" ended earlier this year after five seasons, but the TV host announced on "The Tonight Show" earlier this month that she's "coming back to television." Gaines is teaming up with HGTV's parent company, Discovery, to launch a lifestyle network. In Touch claims that El Moussa, star of the HGTV house-flipping show "Flip or Flop," is furious and feels like Gaines "is stealing her thunder."
An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Christina can't help feeling out-shined by Joanna, especially now that she's getting her own network." It was recently announced that El Moussa is getting her own design-focused spinoff series, "Christina on the Coast," and the magazine asserts that the TV host believed she would become HGTV's leading female star, "but time and again, Joanna upstages her."
The outlet's supposed source continues, "Joanna's too busy doing her own thing to care about what Christina thinks. She's already ahead of the game and doesn't view the 'Flip or Flop' star as competition." The questionable tipster goes on to say that El Moussa's ex-husband and business partner, Tarek, thinks the battle will be good for their brand. "Tarek wants Christina to remain in the spotlight... If this war brings more attention to them and the show, so be it."
Gossip Cop checked in with El Moussa's rep, who laughed off the story and referred us to the TV star's latest Instagram post, in which she dismisses the feud rumors. Along with a screenshot of the article, El Moussa wrote on Instagram, "What a load of [expletive]. I've never commented on a tabloid EVER (and have swallowed a load of [expletive] from these tabloids). #intouchmagazine this is disgusting." She added, "I have always been a huge supporter of female entrepreneurs... #girlboss is my motto. Nothing but respect for @joannagaines." El Moussa also added a heart emoji along with the hashtag, "#goodvibesonly."
It's worth noting, the tabloids have already proven to have little insight into the TV host's career and personal life. Last year, Gossip Cop busted In Touch's sister publication, Life & Style, for wrongly reporting that El Moussa had taken back her ex-husband Tarek. As time has shown, the exes aren't back together. This latest article surrounding a supposed feud between El Moussa and Gaines is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
