Christina Aguilera is not breaking up with longtime fiance Matthew Rutler, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop has investigated the story. There's no truth to it.
Star loves to attack Aguilera with false reports, and its latest ridiculous claim is no exception. This week, the tabloid is alleging the pop star is splitting with the man she's been with for almost a decade and with whom she shares a daughter. Aguilera and Rutler have been dating since 2010 and got engaged in 2014, but the magazine resorts to quoting unnamed sources to insist their relationship is over.
The outlet asserts that a "friend" of the couple says, "Christina and Matt have been living separate lives for a while now. They're bored with each other." The untraceable source adds, "They do things with the kids, but they have little to say to each other." The magazine goes on to purport that Aguilera's "expensive tastes and growing credit card bills," are also putting a strain on the relationship. If that's not enough, the publication falls back on one of its more tired tropes, writing, "Her diva-like attitude has pushed the engagement to the brink."
This particular outlet has used "diva" many times in the past when describing the "Genie In A Bottle" singer. In August, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming Aguilera was making 'diva demands" to work on the upcoming Mulan soundtrack.
In September 2018, when it quoted yet another anonymous source, who alleged Aguilera acted like a "diva" at a restaurant. Gossip Cop, however, checked with the singer's rep, who tells us on the record that this latest report was another example of the tabloid "making up stories again." The singer and her fiance aren't having any issues.
Meanwhile, Star already insisted in July 2018 that Aguilera was "dumped" by Rutler in an article that also body-shamed the former Voice judge, claiming she was "packing on the pounds" in the wake of the breakup. In keeping with its weird obsession with Aguilera's behavior, the magazine was sure to add, "She's always been a total diva" as one of the reasons Rutler supposedly left her.
Naturally, that never happened and this latest article doesn't acknowledge its previous take on the topic. The tabloid's story is also very poorly timed. Earlier on Wednesday, Rutler shared an Instagram photo of him and Aguilera holding hands as they walked down the aisle at his sister's wedding.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
