Chrissy Teigen did not reveal a real “plastic surgery shocker,” nor does she really have an “extensive plastic surgery history.” Apparently, certain webloids have a problem distinguishing jokes from actual facts, resulting in embarrassing incidents of fake news.
While promoting her new makeup palette at an event with beauty editors, Teigen used her signature sense of humor to poke fun at herself. With a laugh, the model said, “Everything about me is fake except my cheeks.” Then she pointed to her nose, lips, and forehead, saying, “Fake, fake, fake.” But Teigen was joking.
The only real revelation was her confession about getting liposuction on her underarms, near her armpits. But a number of outlets took all of Teigen’s comments as if she was being serious. That led the “Lip Sync Battle” co-host to clarify on Twitter, writing, “Reminder to never ever joke, ever (I did do the armpits, no regrets except it clearly came back).” She amusingly added with her usual self-deprecating tone, “You think I’d have this ass if I’d done extensive work? Like who would ask for this ass.”
But even after Teigen confirmed she was kidding about her face being fake, two sites still published the information as if it was a legitimate admission. “Chrissy Teigen Plastic Surgery Shocker: ‘Everything Is Fake Except My Cheeks,'” reads the headline from HollywoodLife, which ironically wrote, “We should be used to Chrissy Teigen dropping truth bombs on us by now, but her plastic surgery reveal left us stunned!” Except, of course, HollywoodLies didn’t report the actual truth.
And then there’s Perez Hilton, whose headline states, “Chrissy Teigen Reveals EXTENSIVE Plastic Surgery History! See What She Did & Didn’t Have Done!” As clueless as its equally inept competitor, Hilton claimed “the 31-year-old revealed she’s nearly gotten work done on everything.” Again, that “reveal” was a joke, and Teigen herself even said so. Her tweets clarifying the situation were posted at 3:48 and 3:50 p.m. Eastern. HollywoodLife and Hilton, however, ran their stories at 6:52 p.m. and 6:27 p.m., respectively, more than two hours later.
So, what excuse do the two bad blogs have for claiming there was an actual “plastic surgery shocker” and Teigen had “extensive plastic surgery” after the star herself clarified? There is none. Instead of investigating and researching to make sure the information was correct, both webloids just copied and pasted the quotes without the complete context. Both articles are examples of needless fake news. A correction had already been made by the celebrity herself, and HollywoodLies and Hilton still got it wrong. It’s pathetic.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
