Chris Soules was arrested after allegedly crashing into a tractor trailer and killing a man, before fleeing the scene, Gossip Cop confirms. The former star of “The Bachelor” is now in an Iowa jail, charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, which is a felony. See mug shot below.

On Monday night, Soules, who is based in Arlington, Iowa, was apparently driving a Chevy pick-up truck when he allegedly rear-ended a man who was steering a John Deere tractor trailer shortly after 8 p.m. local time. The collision caused the tractor trailer to fall into a ditch. Soules allegedly bailed after the crash, while an ambulance rushed the man to the hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced dead.

It’s unclear how Soules ended up in police custody, whether he turned himself in or was tracked down by cops, but he was arrested early Tuesday morning. It’s possible he’ll end up facing additional charges as the investigation is ongoing. According to a statement furnished to Gossip Cop by the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, no further information is being released until the victim’s family has been notified.

As Gossip Cop has reported, Soules was originally a contestant on “The Bachelorette” before becoming a lead on “The Bachelor” for the reality show’s 19th season, which aired in 2015. He became engaged to Whitney Bischoff, but they split a few months after the finale. Prior to the breakup, Soules competed on “Dancing with the Stars,” and he went on to appear on “Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition.”

Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Soules. See the reality star’s mug shot below.

UPDATE: Soules was arraigned on Tuesday morning and is being held on a $10,000 cash bond. He was reportedly identified as the truck driver by eyewitnesses to the crash, who alerted police. Cops reportedly found alcoholic beverages in his truck, but it’s unclear if they were open containers.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Kenneth “Kenny” Mosher, a 66-year-old farmer who lived in the area. Soules, who has his own farm, was released from jail after posting $10,000 bond. Click to see statement from Soules’ rep.

UPDATE: In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, police say, “On Monday, April 24, 2017 at approximately 8:20 pm, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the 1000[block] of Slater Avenue (W45) north of Aurora. According to the investigation, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Christopher Douglas Soules, 35, of Arlington was southbound on Slater Avenue when he struck the rear of a southbound John Deere 2640 tractor operated by Kenneth Eugene Mosher, 66, of Aurora. The collision caused the tractor to go into the east ditch. Soules’ vehicle went into the west ditch. Mosher was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein where he was pronounced dead. Soules was uninjured in the accident and left the scene of the accident prior to law enforcement arrival.”

“Soules was located shortly after at his residence,” say police. “He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Buchanan County Jail, where he was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatality Motor Vehicle Accident (class D felony). Soules bonded out of the Buchanan County Jail on a $10,000 bond on Tuesday morning, April 25, 2017.”

The statement further notes, “No other information is being released at this time pending the continued investigation into the cause of the accident. Due to the on-going investigation, further charges may be pending.”
