Are Chris Pratt and Arnold Schwarzenegger really feuding? One of this week's tabloids claims the 71-year-old actor can't stand his future son-in-law. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story.
"Chris vs. Arnie: Ready To Rumble!" reads a headline in the latest issue of NW. The accompanying article says Schwarzenegger is upset about his daughter Katherine marrying Pratt because "there's never been a movie star in the family bigger than him."
A supposed source tells the magazine, "Now he's seeing his future son-in-law do exactly what he did at that age: marry into one of the most powerful families in the country and redefine it." Schwarzenegger's ex-wife and Katherine's mom, Maria Shriver, is the niece of John F. Kennedy.
The alleged insider goes on to say that despite Pratt's seemingly "polite" demeanor, "he's just as vain as Arnold is." The suspicious tipster adds, "During the few times they've hung together, it's a testosterone fest and not in a good way."
The tabloid's premise couldn't be more inaccurate. During a recent interview on "Extra," Schwarzenegger had nothing but nice words to say about Pratt and his daughter getting engaged. "She is so happy," noted the Terminator star. "They both are so happy. As I said to him, he's such a likable guy. I love Chris. He's fantastic." The former Governor of California went on to say that Pratt asked his permission to propose, and added, "He's a wonderful guy. They both look really great together. They're very happy together. I wish them all the best of luck."
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time NW has attempted to create nonexistent drama out of Pratt's engagement. A few weeks ago, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Anna Furious was furious about her ex-husband moving on so quickly. In reality, the actress took to Instagram to congratulate the future spouses on getting married. Faris also spoke about the engagement on her podcast, "Anna Faris Is Unqualified," during which she let it be known she's "so happy" for her ex-husband and "there isn't any bitterness" between them.
The unreliable outlet also made up a story claiming Faris was annoyed about Pratt and Katherine supposedly rushing into marriage because of their religious views. The publication further contended that Faris was hoping to get engaged to her boyfriend Michael Barrett, and was angry that her ex-husband is beating her down the aisle. As noted above, Faris has gone out of her way to praise Pratt and his fiance, as has Katherine's father. The couple's engagement simply hasn't caused any tension amongst their families.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
