Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have been the subjects of many false tabloid stories since they split nearly a year ago. Gossip Cop has had to debunk many of these made-up articles about the exes. Here are five wrong rumors about the pair.
Last December, Gossip Cop busted OK! for wrongly reporting that the exes were having a “co-parenting crisis” when it came to raising their 5-year-old son Jack. It was alleged that Pratt was moving to New York City to start a production company, while Faris had to remain in Los Angeles to shoot her sitcom “Mom,” and the situation was causing issues over splitting time with their son. When the story first emerged, a rep for Pratt told Gossip Cop on the record that it was simply “not true.” As time has shown, the actor never moved to New York, nor has he launched a production company at all. And one moth after we corrected the story, Faris opened up about successfully co-parenting with Pratt to ensure that their son “feels safe and protected and happy.”
Shortly after the exes split last August, OK! made up a story about Faris “struggling to move on.” The unreliable magazine claimed the actress was feeling “sad and numb,” and having a difficult time coping with the “grief” caused by the breakup. Of course, going through a separation isn’t easy, but the tabloid’s account of the situation just wasn’t accurate. Faris started dating cinematographer Michael Barrett just two months after her split from Pratt, completely disproving the notion that was unable to “move on.”
Earlier that month, RadarOnline published a misleading article saying that Faris’ dad had revealed “the truth” behind her split. The blog did in fact contact the actress’s father, but he was actually tight-lipped about the situation. As opposed to revealing “the truth” behind his daughter’s breakup, Faris’ dad said he “can’t talk” it. He added, “What I can say is that they are both wonderful, loving people who respect each other. And right now we are just trying to do what’s best for our grandson.” The article was simply clickbait designed to trick readers into believing Faris’ dad revealed some kind of juicy scoop about why her marriage ended.
Also in August, Gossip Cop called out the Mirror for falsely claiming that Jennifer Lawrence, who co-starred with Pratt in the 2016 sci-fi movie Passengers, was the reason behind his split from Faris. It was alleged that the estranged spouses had called it quits because Pratt and Lawrence “grew too close on set.” However, Faris herself addressed the romance rumors involving Lawrence and Pratt in her memoir Unqualified, which was released last October. The actress explained she’s “friendly” with Lawrence, who was “apologetic” when the false tabloid stories started making the rounds. “She didn’t need to be because she hadn’t done anything wrong,” Faris noted in her book.
And finally, Gossip Cop looks back at a wrong rumor we busted just before the estranged spouses split. In May 2017, we debunked an OK! cover story announcing that Pratt and Faris were expecting a second child. Spokespeople for both stars assured us at the time that there was “no truth” the the pregnancy report. The exes announced their separation less than three months later.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
