Chris Pine SNL

Chris Pine opened his “SNL” monologue by saying he’s often confused for other scruffy handsome actors named Chris. Then a number of the show’s cast members mistook him for Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth. Pine then sang a song the tune of “Uptown Girl” about being Chris Pine. See the video below of Pine’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue.

This marks the first time Pine has hosted “Saturday Night Live.” Earlier in the week, he talked about being nervous doing the sketch comedy show, which is now broadcast live coast-to-coast. While appearing as a guest on the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the late night talk show host asked Pine if he was afraid, and the actor responded, “I’m terrified.”

While it’s Pine’s first time as the show’s host, he actually made a cameo on a “Weekend Update” back in 2009 when his first Star Trek film came out. Joined by co-star Zachary Quinto, the two urged diehard devotees of the “Star Trek” TV series and film franchise to “stop harassing” them for being in the reboot. After noting how they did their best to maintain the show’s plot lines and characters’ integrity, Pine revealed that Trekkies tried to throw rocks through the windows of his car and that he was receiving “angry calls in the middle of the night,” with people yelling in Vulcan or Hebrew.”

Pine is appearing on “Saturday Night Live” in advance of the release of Wonder Woman. The movie, starring Gal Gadot in the title role, opens on June 2. The actor, of course can sing. Last year he duetted with Barbra Streisand on her album, “Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway.” The two sang a medley of “I’ll Be Seeing You” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.” As a result, Pine can now boast that he’s performed on a number one album on the Billboard 200.
