Is Chris Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky tired of the actor supposedly putting work before his family? That’s the claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.

In an interview with GQ Australia earlier this month, Hemsworth revealed that he spent three and a half weeks away from his wife and kids while filming his new movie Bad Times at the El Royale so he could “selfishly focus just on [his] character.” The actor also made a point of noting that it’s very unusual for him not to be with his family while he’s shooting a film, but OK! ignored that portion of the interview and decided to create nonexistent drama.

According to the magazine, Pataky was “overwhelmed” during the time her husband was away “and her nights often ended in tears.” An alleged insider tells the magazine, “She had to do everything: arrange childcare, cook for them, bathe them — all while working on a project of her own.” The outlet’s questionable source adds, “Chris just expects her to suck it up, but she’s growing really tired of him putting his work on a pedestal. She wants them to be equal partners.”

Here’s what’s really happening. The outlet cherry-picked one comment from the actor’s interview and created a false narrative out of it. Hemsworth also told GQ that some his “roles have suffered” because he prioritizes his family over his career. “There’s definitely a couple of films I could’ve put way more energy into but I was like, ‘No, I’d rather be with my kids,’” explained the actor. Hemsworth further stressed that he takes his career seriously, but it doesn’t define him the way his family does. “My identity is another team, another community – the community being the family.”

The reason Hemsworth mentioned he went weeks without seeing his wife and kids while filming Bad Times at the El Royale is because it’s very out of the norm for him. The tabloid, however, selectively chose that one comment to make it seem as if the actor ignores his family while he’s working. In addition to the magazine’s article being entirely deceptive, a source close to the situation also confirms it’s false.

In fact, Hemsworth’s wife and kids were with him in Europe and Morocco over the past few months while he shot the upcoming Men in Black reboot. Hemsworth even posted an Instagram photo of his wife and kids enjoying a camel ride in Morocco during a break from filming. The tabloid’s claim that the actor focuses on his career more than his family is baseless.
