Chris Hemsworth has been Elsa Pataky's husband longer than he's played the Norse god Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but for some reason, the tabloids still doubt his commitment to his wife. The spouses have been thrown into multiple rumor-based stories about the two trying to salvage their relationship or Hemsworth failing his wife in some way. Here are just a few of those rumors Gossip Cop has busted.
After his brother Liam began divorce proceedings with his soon-to-be ex-wife, Miley Cyrus, in August, OK! claimed the breakup inspired the Thor star to salvage his own marriage. Seeing his sibling go through a breakup was supposedly a wake-up call for Hemsworth, according to the magazine, and he was eager to "split parenting duties equally" with his wife and cut down on his work. Hemsworth's "extra gratitude and attention" was slowly repairing the damage his busy career had done to his relationship, an alleged source said.
The whole thing was just an attempt to capitalize on the drama and interest surrounding his brother's divorce. Hemsworth had already set his career schedule earlier in the year, before his sibling's surprising split. The magazine was trying to pass old quotes from the actor as insight into his relationship. In reality, their entire tale was fiction.
That same week, NW published a story about Hemsworth and Pataky trying to repair their marriage for the sake of their kids. According to the magazine, the two were in the middle of a "marriage crisis" with their children being the only thing holding them together. The tabloid's so-called "insider: argued that Hemsworth's filming schedule was destroying their relationship, with the actor signing up for "a bunch of movies" despite "promising to take a break from acting." Pataky, the "insider" continued, had "mostly given up her career" for their family and was "furious" about the marriage being "one-sided."
As Gossip Cop mentioned in the previous bust, Hemsworth's schedule has been in place for months, long before the nonexistent "marriage crisis" was said to have developed. The actor's schedule was also pretty clear since, after finishing a project in March, he isn't actually set to act in anything until next year's Thor: Love and Thunder. We also pointed out that the actor's social media was nothing but love and pride in his wife and her career.
Most recently, Woman's Day alleged that Hemsworth would have to scramble to repair his marriage after being seen "flirting" with female fans. The actor was photographed near two women while he was in his native Australia, which inspired the bogus story from the gossip magazine. According to the outlet's "source," Hemsworth was "bored out of his mind" with his wife out of town promoting a lingerie line, and "loving" the attention he was getting from other women.
The tabloid even threw in a line clearly inspired by his Thor co-star Idris Elba's appearance on The Office: "He knows the effect he has on women," is strikingly similar to Elba's infamous line, "I am aware of the effect I have on women," which he said during his brief stint on the sitcom. The whole thing spirals into a claim about Pataky thinking her husband "was doing much more" than being nice to a couple of fans and "the last thing she needs is Chris encouraging" any overly eager admirers.
Of course, the entire incident was overblown and exaggerated by the tabloid. Gossip Cop's source close to the couple assured us there was no truth to the claim. Yet again, we couldn't find any signs of a rift in the couple's marriage. Although they certainly won't be the last rumors about the couple we'll have to debunk, we can confidently dismiss these ones for good.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
