Are Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan really competing to date Brie Larson? That’s the claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.

According to NW, several Hollywood hunks “are lining up to date” the Captain Marvel star, including Evans and Jordan, who are also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A supposed source tells the magazine, “Everything that Brie touches is turning to gold right now, and she is being offered some amazing roles. She’s focused on her work, but ever since her engagement [to Alex Greenwald] ended, a lot of guys in the industry have been paying Brie close attention.”

The outlet’s alleged insider further contends that Captain America star Evans and Black Panther star Jordan are both “jumping at the chance to take Brie on a date.” The questionable tipster adds, “It could easily turn into a fight between Captain America and Erik Killmonger!”

This is all pure tabloid fantasy. Gossip Cop reached out to Larson’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the magazine’s story is made-up. Despite what the outlet’s anonymous and untraceable “source” claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actress’s behalf assures us that Evans and Jordan aren’t romantically pursuing her.

It’s worth noting, Larson is friendly with both actors and has collaborated with them outside of the Marvel universe. The actress worked with Evans in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World back in 2010, and she co-stars with Jordan in the upcoming drama Just Mercy. The idea that Evans and Jordan are battling each other over the actress now that she’s single is simply untrue. NW is just attempting to create some sort of comic book love triangle.

It should be mentioned, the tabloid has a habit of inventing nonexistent celebrity love triangles. In January, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Jennifer Lopez was dumping Alex Rodriguez for Ben Affleck. The singer and the former MLB star have since gotten engaged.

Shortly before that, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly reporting that Jessie J was dumping Channing Tatum for Ruby Rose. That didn’t happen. The publication also made up a ridiculous story about Blake Lively warning Anna Kendrick to stop flirting with Ryan Reynolds.

It’s clear at this point that the magazine concocts bogus narratives surrounding the love lives of celebrities. This latest one involving the three Marvel stars is yet another example.
