Chris Blue and Usher performed “Everybody Hurts” on the season 12 finale of “The Voice” on Tuesday. Watch the video below!

As Gossip Cop has reported, Blue went from being the very last Blind Audition to one of this cycle’s frontrunners during his run on the NBC competition. He defeated fellow members of Alicia Keys’ team during the Battles, Knockouts and Live Playoffs. And on Monday, Blue competed in part one of the finale.

Along with the rest of the Top 4, he had to sing three times: A solo cover, a coach duet, and an original song. For the cover, Blue didn’t just sing. He also danced, pulling off a choreographed routine to Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation.” That performance closed the two-hour live broadcast, and prompted Keys to declare, “We can say we started Chris Blue’s career tonight!”

Blue’s would-be winner’s single was called “Money On You.” He gave another energized performance for that, leading Keys to exclaim, “Chris, you are ready, man. You are ready!” It seems America agrees. Blue’s recordings of both “Rhythm Nation” and “Money On You” charted within the top 10 on the iTunes singles chart.

In rehearsal footage shown on last night’s episode, Keys compared the aspiring star to Chris Brown, Bruno Mars and Usher, which made it especially fitting that the former “Voice” coach now returned to the show just to perform with him. While R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” might not seem in Usher’s wheelhouse on the surface, he and Blue gave a really special performance of the emotional track.

As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Usher also returned for the “The Voice” finale for season 9 in 2015, to sing “Without You” with Jordan Smith, who was later crowned the winner. Maybe that’s a good omen for Blue. Check out the video below! NOTE: The video is no longer available.
