Chloe Kohanski Voice Top 8

Chloe Kohanski took on Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” on Monday’s “The Voice,” during the Top 8 semifinals. Check out the video below!

Kohanski originally started off on the NBC competition as a member of Miley Cyrus’ team. But when she faced elimination, Blake Shelton used one of his steals to save her. The country superstar and the aspiring star have worked together surprisingly well throughout season 13 since then, with Shelton letting his artist stick with covering the 80s music with which she’s proven to excel. Last week, that meant Kohanski singing Blondie’s “Call Me,” as Gossip Cop reported.

Now this time around, Kohanski opted for “I Want To Know What Love Is,” which Hunter Plake memorably sang for the Knockouts during season 12 earlier this year. While rehearsing for her performance of the power ballad, Kohanski admitted, “This song represents my entire musical journey.” She told Shelton she wanted a “‘Landslide’ moment meets ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ moment” for a strong, emotional performance.

Shelton enthusiastically applauded on his feet following the live rendition, and declared, “I’m gonna go on record right now: This is the biggest night you’ve had on the show on this far. This is the best performance you’ve had.” He further told viewers, “Rewind that performance and listen to her sing it again, and tell me that is not the most iconic voice we have ever had on this show.”

In addition to singing solo, as usual, Kohanski also had to take the stage this week for a duet performance. She was paired with fellow contestant Noah Mac on Chris Isaac’s “Wicked Games.” Kohanski now has to hope her two offerings will propel her into next week’s finale. There will be a heartbreaking cut on Tuesday’s results show first, with the Top 8 becoming the Top 4.
