Are Chip and Joanna Gaines signing a $10 million deal for a primetime TV show? With “Fixer Upper ending, a new report claims the couple already has another television project in the works. But Gossip Cop hears the claims are untrue.

As Gossip Cop has reported, the Gaineses decided the upcoming fifth season of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” will be the series’ last, as they want to focus more on their family than the time-intensive reality program. But according to Star, they’re actually secretly “planning a move to more profitable prime-time pastures.” A so-called “insider” claims to the tabloid, “They’ve got a lucrative offer on the table from a major network, but they’ve been haggling over every little detail.”

In fact, the gossip magazine predicts a “bidding war” could erupt since the “power couple” is in such high demand. “So many networks have approached them, but Chip and Joanna aren’t fools,” asserts the supposed source. “They’ve been playing hardball with the networks to make as much as possible. If the deal falls through, there are plenty of other channels that will step in.”

But why do a primetime show on a different network, instead of just sticking with the massively popular “Fixer Upper”? The outlet’s purported tipster contends, “They want to be among the movers and shakers and millionaires. That’s the real reason they canceled ‘Fixer Upper.'” This alleged “insider” adds to the publication, “They’re not turning their noses down at HGTV, but more [money] is obviously better!”

Yet Chip and Joanna have repeatedly explained that their decision to end “Fixer Upper” is due to family considerations and a desire to “catch our breath a little bit.” It isn’t necessarily a permanent move, but something they’re doing for the immediate future. In fact, they’re open to potentially returning to television down the road. “It isn’t inconceivable. We’re entrepreneurs at heart, so we’ll always be looking forward to what’s next. As it relates to TV, you just never know,” Joanna told People last month.

Chip also acknowledged, “If we go back to normal and normal is no fun, well then I’ll probably try to find me a television show and see if I get back on.” And that’s really where things stand right now. There is no TV deal imminently in the works, a rep for the Gainses maintains, contrary to the Star story. But as they say in show business, stay tuned.
